The Anglican Bishop of Akoko Edo and Coordinator of the Anglican Youth Fellowship, Rt. Rev. Jolly Ehigiator Oyekpen and his wife, Mrs. Victoria Emilomon Oyekpen, last Tuesday, gathered friends and well-wishers at the Cathedral Church of St. James Ugbogbo Igarra, Edo State for a special thanksgiving to God and celebration of His blessings. The occasion, which was tagged “Tripple Celebrations” witnessed 50th birthday of Mrs. Oyekpen, who turned 50 last November, but the COVID-19 pandemic could not allow the celebration then.

Other events included the 25th marriage anniversary of Bishop Oyekpen and wife who wedded on April 20, 1996. His best man 25 years ago, Rev. Omoyele Joshua, now Venerable, was on ground to repeat the same role. Also, the Chief Bride’s maid 25 years ago, Sis Efe, now, a Chief magistrate in Delta State judiciary, was there to play the same role. There was the unveiling and launching of a book titled: “My Testimony Vol. 1,” a compendium of the first 10 years synod of the Diocese of Akoko Edo. It contains dates, venues and themes of the synods, which held between 2007 and 2016. Sound biblical teachings and scholastic postulations are contained in the book.

At the service were the Archbishop of Bendel Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev Cyril O. Odutemu and 13 other Bishops from within and outside Bendel Province, as well as a gubernatorial aspirant in Edo State, Gideon Ikhine; Edo State, Secretary to the State Government represented by Chief J.A. Emasealu; HRH Oba E.A. Saiki of Igarra; Oba Eshimokhai Idogu of Okpe Kingdom; and HRH Oba (Ven.) S.M. Ojeifo.
