A fallow ground is a ground that has not been plowed or cultivated. A fallow ground is an untilled ground. To break up your fallow ground is a call to develop the untapped resources God deposited inside of us. There are still mountains to be crushed and oceans to be navigated. As a professional or businessperson, you need to discover other areas of your expertise or business that you can explore. Life should be an adventure. It is time to reactivate gifting in our lives that was once in operational, but now nonfunctional.
There is always more to do in your calling or vocation. Breaking up your fallow ground is a demand on our potentials and for us to be the very best of who God has made us to be. To break up your fallow ground means to put excuses behind and achieve new goals. Breaking your fallow ground means pioneering new things; doing things that you have never done before and breaking into new areas.
God is not offended when His children dream big and want to do things that are considered too big. God created us to dominate the world He has created. God is not offended when you go ahead to do things that are considered too big for you to do. In Joshua 14:12, Caleb asked for a fallow ground. He said: “Now therefore, give me this mountain.” He was 85 years, but looking for new adventure. He was 85 years, but seeking to do things that are considered too big for his old age. To break up your fallow ground is breaking new frontiers. Like Caleb, you are about to break your fallow ground. Sometimes God gives us fallow ground, we should not run away from it, but break it and sow into it until it germinates and becomes fruitful. New challenges can be scary, but it is also exciting to explore it. It is our own time to say like Caleb: “Give me this fallow ground.”
God warns us not to be unproductive and that is what the phrase: “Do not sow among the thorns” means. Break up your fallow ground is a call to transform ideas into businesses and companies. God made us to be fruitful on earth with the gifts and talents He has given to us. God created man and blessed him to be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion (Genesis 1:28).
Do not ever think that success must come by selling something big. How come the product called chocolate, which is just a product from cocoa is more valuable in the world more than cocoa itself? The total value of chocolate is 10 times the value of cocoa. You cannot go to Netherlands without buying chocolate. One of the biggest companies in Nigeria is Cadbury and the best-selling product is “Tom Tom,” which is sold currently at N100 for 3 or 4 of it. It is time to start that business or company and you do not need to procrastinate. Procrastination is a dream killer. Are you already in business, it is time to explore other untapped business ideas. The current generation of business owners and entrepreneurs in Nigeria are largely focusing on segments, which have already been discovered and now over crowded. We need to think completely differently to find these untapped business ideas and be able to address the market needs and timely execute on it, without getting influenced by the existing noise.
