Breaking barriers (5)

Key verse: Zechariah 4:7: “Who art thou, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.” (KJV)

Barrier is something that puts a limit upon your life. It is anything that hinders you from reaching your goal and restricts your movement. A barrier is a block; it is an obstruction and it is anything that pulls you away from where you should be. Beloved, no one gets to his or her promised land without breaking barriers. Good news is within Christ, you are empowered to break the barriers restricting your movement. The call to Christianity is a call to power. Luke 10:19: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Barriers come in various forms and could be physical or spiritual; visible or invisible. Again, one’s attitude and a barrier could be a word spoken against you.

Every child of God has been created for a divine purpose, a heavenly mandate that must be fulfilled on earth. However, the enemy of our souls does not want us to fulfill our divine purpose. He erects barriers, distractions and oppositions designed to hinder our progress. These barriers may come in the form of fear, sin, unbelief, satanic opposition or human resistance. If you must walk in your destiny, you must confront and overcome these barriers.

The good news is that God is the ultimate barrier breaker. He has promised to go before you, level mountains and cut down gates of iron. No barrier can stop you if you hold on to God. Isaiah 45:2, says: “I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron.” Invisible barriers are forces and obstacles unseen that are against the fulfillment of man’s glorious destiny. Pharaoh was seen as holding Israel captive in Egypt, but really the gods of Egypt were responsible (Exodus 12:12,33).

Barriers are inevitable on the journey of fulfilling divine purpose, but with God, they can all be broken. Fear, sin, satanic resistance, and human opposition may rise against you, but they cannot prevail if God is on your side. To break barriers, you should stand in faith, live in obedience, engage in prayer and spiritual warfare, and depend on God’s favour. Every barrier will melt at God’s presence; therefore they clear off as they see God approach. (Psalm 68:1-2). The heritage of every true child of God is supernatural victory over all barriers in life. To deal with wicked barriers, you must be strong and battle-equipped. 2 Corinthians 10:4, says: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.” When you confront barriers, they will bow to your authority.

You need to give your life to Christ, so that, He will empower you to break barriers. The power to break barriers has been given to those who have received Jesus Christ into their lives (John 1:12). An encounter with Jesus will position and empower you to break through every barrier in your life. God breaks barriers. Throughout scripture, He consistently demonstrates His ability to shatter limitations, remove obstacles, and open new paths for His people. Whether spiritual, emotional, physical or circumstantial, no barrier is too strong for Him.

Barriers may appear as walls, gates, chains or impossibilities, but the presence and power of God dismantles every opposition standing against His children.
