Church leaders and leadership experts, including the President/Chief Executive Officer of Vision International Christian Ministries, Rev Francis Olubambi; former Chairperson of First Bank of Nigeria, Ibukun Awosika; Lead Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Dr Sam Adeyemi; President of International Christian Ministries, USA, Dave Champness; Lead Pastor of Global Impact Church, Pastor Yemi Davids; and among others have stressed the importance of focused-leadership in nation building.
They made this call, last week, at the 2026Transformational Leadership Conference with the theme: “Focused-Leadership” organised by Vision International Christian Ministries to mark its 25th anniversary.
Held in Lagos, the event brought together church leaders, captains of industry and leadership experts to deliberate on the subject.
According to Rev Olubambi, leadership is not measured by titles or position, but by the precision of decisions, consistency of actions and the results that are produced.
He stressed that focused leadership is built on clarity of vision, strength of character, disciplined priorities and commitment to what truly matters, adding that the world needs leaders who can eliminate distractions, align their actions with purpose and executive with excellence.
Awosika on her part, identified clarity of purpose as would enable organisations with defined vision to survive and grow, saying lack of clarity and vision would lead to transfer from one thing to another and charged leaders to remain committed to their goals.
Adeyemi who spoke on the topic: “Winning In Execution With Discipline And Personal Integrity,” harped on execution and why individuals and organisations fail in this regard.
He noted that execution is the true test of leadership, saying Jesus Christ commanded his disciples not only to hear his words, but also to have the willingness to act on them.
Describing execution as the engine that turns vision into results, Adeyemi emphasised discipline, time management and accountability as crucial elements for accomplishment.
Champness who spoke on, “Focused Leadership: The Road To Becoming A Great Leader” stressed that leaders must focus on the fundamentals, as well as biblical principles, rather than their own feelings or instincts to navigate successfully. He highlighted consistent habits, cultivating character of a servant, perseverance and raising successors as vital to effective leadership.
Pastor Yemi Davids, the Lead Pastor of Global Impact Church who is also the Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lagos Chapter, speaking on, “Shaping Organisations With Talents And Intentional Manpower Development,” urged leaders to shun pride and also to humble themselves.
According to him, a focused leader must honour all men, take correction and should remain teachable.
The founder of Life Church,Pastor Craig Groeschel, who spoke on: “Boring Your Way To Success” challenged the popular notion that great leadership is glamorous, flashy or brilliant. He noted that true greatness is found in consistency and not charisma.
He said: “Consistency closes the gap between good intentions and actual results. Leaders should focus on doing the right things repeatedly with integrity and over time, this boring consistency will compound and increase their impact and influence.”
