God… will be our guide even to death. The Lord has committed Himself to be the believer’s faithful and constant guide throughout life, in the experience of death and beyond death to the eternal home where we will be with Him forever (John14:1-3; 1Thes 4:17; Rev 21:3; see Phil 1:21). “I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen,” (Mat 28:20).
“I am with you.” Jesus promised that His presence and authority would be with all believers who go forth to “teach all nations.” Jesus is presently with us in the person of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16,26) and through His word (John 14:23).
No matter what your condition is — weak, poor, humble, apparently unimportant, among others — He cares for you. He watches you with every concerned details of life’s trials and struggles, and gives both the grace that is sufficient (2 Cor 12:9) and His presence to lead you home (Mat 18:20; Acts18:10). This is the Christian’s answer to every fear, every doubt, every trouble, every heartache and every discouragement.
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him,” (2Chro 16:9).
“The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth.” God so values those who are devoted to Him that He searches throughout the earth to mark all who love Him faithfully and identify themselves with His cause (Ezek 9:3-6). God does this to strongly support and bless such people in their righteous endeavours, their deeds of faith, and times of danger (see Ex 14:15-20; 2King 19:35), affliction (Gen 37:34; Ex 2:23-25) or trials (Gen22:1-14).
“Those whose heart is loyal towards him.” God distinguishes between those among His people whose hearts are completely His and those whose hearts are divided between Him and the world. This truth is also seen in Christ’s evaluation of the seven churches in Rev 2-3, where He contrasts the faithful overcomers with the lukewarm members of His churches (Rev 3:15,21).
(5) Freeing the flow of grace
• Rejoice in everything that God allows or sends. Read Ps 52:1-9. God will judge the evildoer. Our anger must not block our confidence in God’s ability to defeat evil.
Our God is not only God of the mountain, but also God of the valley. 1Kgs 20:30. God’s will is always perfect and, although we might not be able to recognise them at the time, there are always reasons like Paul, we can rejoice in everything that God allows or sends. Grace may flow like a river, but a grudge will dam the stream of God’s grace. When Nero imprisoned Paul, the apostle did not rail at God or Nero. Instead, he transformed his situation by calling himself the prisoner of Christ Jesus (Eph 3:1)
