Gleanings from the life of Samson – Part 11
Text: Judges 16:15-31
Key Verse: Judges 16:20, “And she said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” So he awoke from his sleep, and said, “I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!” But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him.” (NKJV)’
Delilah had succeeded in sexually manipulating Samson to tell her the source of his strength. This is very sad because it marked the shipwreck of Samson’s anointing from the Lord. The Hand of the Lord upon Samson left him and he became like an ordinary man. The Bible made a tragic statement in verse 20, when it says, “he knew not that the Lord was departed from him.” Once the Lord departs, you will become like ordinary man, ordinary to Satan, ordinary to all the demons that you have been ordering to get out of the way. They won’t get out of the way anymore because they have never been afraid of you as you. The Bible said greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). Satan has never been afraid of you and I, even all of us put together, but he fears the power that is in you and me, as long as that power is there.
Samson said, “I will go out as before, break loose and escape, just as I always do at other times.” I plead with you don’t go there again, don’t go again, come back, return, it is enough. If it is Beer Parlour, don’t go there again; if it is one prostitute, don’t go there again and if you are taking Indian hemp, cocaine and drugs, don’t go there again. You know those places you used to go, don’t go there again. Don’t do that thing again, put a stop to that thing before the Spirit of God disappears because the Spirit of God will soon disappear, and when the Spirit of God disappears, you will become an ordinary man. You may say, what of my education? That education worked, when you put it under the Holy Ghost. You may say what of my beauty and handsomeness? All these things worked when you put them under the Holy Ghost. You may also say what about my connections? Your connections worked when you put them under the Holy Ghost. When the Spirit of God departs, you will soon know that all those things amount to nothing.
Samson did not know that the Lord Had departed from him. The Philistines took Samson, shaved off the seven locks of his head, plucked out his eyes, bound his hands with chains, so that he won’t be able to break loose and brought him down to Gaza. He broke the chains at other times, but this time, he wasn’t be able to, he became a grinder in the prison and they humiliated him. Don’t go there again before the devil humiliates you. Stop that secret sin because the devil will soon disgrace you.
Samson said, I will go again like as other times, but there are no other times anymore, God is finally fed up. Samson had broken fellowship with God and the Lord Had departed from him. Samson frustrated the Holy Ghost; Samson grieved the Holy Ghost; Samson quenched the Holy Ghost; Sampson let out the Holy Ghost and preferred to stay at the laps of a prostitute than to be filled with the Holy Ghost. I cry out and say to you before the Spirit of God finally departs, please stop. If the spirit of God finally departs, you may be tied with chains again but this time, you may not be able to untie them.
