God has given everyone on earth the opportunity to live, as the creator of all. After moulding man from dust, according to the Bible, He breathed into the nostrils of the moulded sand and it became a living being called Adam. The decision tocreate the earth and everything therein, including human beings, was entirely His. There is no input from any other source. Prior to bringing man into existence, He has put in place the resources both vegetation and livestock for the feeding and comfort of man; the highest being in creation. God has made the surface of the earth comfortably and habitable for man. He gave man themandate tomanage the earth and to bring every other creature under his control. The divine creative statement and mandate is captured in Genesis 1:26-28: “And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28: And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
As God has done all this for man, all glory about the earth and man must go to the Almighty God, the creator of heaven and earth. By the grace of God, of all the creatures of God, man has the highest intelligent quotient, conscience to make and take decisions, the opportunity to make choices of what are good and bad. It is based on this that God gave man the power of dominion and fruitfulness that made man to be able to subdue and replenish the earth.
The word subdue is the divine Magna Charta (management charter) for all true scientific and material progress. Man began with a perfect mind in its finite capacity to learn, but he did not begin with the knowledge of all the secrets of the universe. He is, therefore, commanded to subdue; that is he is meant to acquire knowledge andmastery of his material environment, so as, to bring its elements into the service of the race. All the scientific discoveries and exploits of the present world are borne out of the divine mandate; hence all glory must go to God. Man is meant to have total and complete control of the present earth, but the mistake of Adam in the Garden of Eden has made him to the lose the kingdom of earth God planned as the colony of heaven.
It is worthy of note that Apostle Paul having looked into all the good things God did for mankind made the statement in the lead scripture that everything we do as human being must be done to the glory of God. It is rather unfortunate that the Devil has taken possession of men as agent to destroy God’s plan for man.
The Devil has no contribution in creation, no life to give and nothing good comes from him, yet he wants to use human beings as agents against the word of God and to disruptman’s preparation for everlasting life with our Lord Jesus Christ in heaven. Nothing good should be ascribed to the Devil; he is only trying to usurp, but that notwithstanding, the power of God is still supreme.
In Isaiah 60:21-22, the glory goes to God:“Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. 22: A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time.”
In keeping with the divine mandate of inheriting and subduing the land, God is glorified. When a man is carrying out the commandment of God, he is further empowered to do more exploits. God does not bless any idle man, rather His blessings and favour come through the obedience to His instruction of possessing and subduing the earth. The best potential of a man is made manifests when he embarks on projects, takes risks and faces challenges. It should be noted that any adventure man takes in line with the fulfillment of the divine mandate will put the name of God on line and God will ensure its success to save His name. Every successful effort of man in any area in life is an avenue to glorify God. God has given the entire earth to man to subdue it. He has given us the knowledge and wisdom to do so, hence, every human achievement must give glory to God.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 warns: “Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches. 24: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.”
God has bestowed so much resources on us, so, we have to give God the glory forwhosoever we have. God must take all the glory. To glorify God, we must serve Him with all our heart. Service to the Lord entails worshipping and praising Him in His glory. We must at the same time preach the gospel to bring perishing souls to Hiskingdom. God demands our service and obedience to His words. So, take time to serve God, live holy and righteous life and preach the gospel in season and out of season. Give glory to God for all things in your life for He alone has created and given us life. As we do this, we are preparing our lives for heaven at the end of our sojourn here in this earth in Jesus’ name.
1Cor:1:26-29 says: “For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.27: But God hath chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things, which are mighty. 28: And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are. 29: That no man should glory in his presence.” God works in diverse and mysterious ways to take glory unto Himself, for no man will help Him in His work; that is why all glory must go to Him.
