Grateful heart

Korede John Aderounmu

Text: Psalm 103:2 “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
A grateful heart gives thanks to God for past achievements, breakthrough, deliverance and miracles in order to receive more. This is to show gratitude to the Almighty God for all He has done, what He is doing and the good things He will still do. It is our duty to always give thanks to the Lord. The only thing God desired from us is our thanksgiving. God valued a grateful and appreciative soul so much. Being grateful to God makes Him to release more good blessings into our lives.

Psalm 67:5-6 says “Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase and God, even our own God, shall bless us.”

Praise brings more blessings. A Thanksgiving heart is a blessed heart. Verse 6A says, “the earth yield her increase and even our God shall bless us.” This is definite, everything about our lives will increase greatly and the blessings of God will be constant in our lives when we give thanks to Him.

There are many things to be grateful for:
• His Presence: Heb 13:5B says “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” The Lord has never left us or forsook us. People may have deserted us when we needed them. But the Lord has been with us at all times and in all situations. His presence has given us peace and rest. Without the presence of God, our lives would be meaningless and miserable.

• His Provision: Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” The Lord has been faithful to meet our needs. He has provided food, clothes and shelter for us, which are considered the basic needs of mankind. He has provided us so many blessings and material comforts for which we must be thankful.

• His Protection: Psalm 121:7 says “The Lord will keep you from all harm, he will watch over your life.” We are not destroyed because of His mercies. There are so many dangers and hidden snares in this world and yet God has protected us so far. We must remember the dangerous situations we faced in the past and how God protected us and be grateful to Him.

What about His Healing, Deliverance, Love, Salvation, His faithfulness, His grace, Redemption, His kindness and lots more?

Acts 16:25A says “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: Praises loosed their chains and door of prison opened. That is the work of praise, it opened all closed doors and set free into glory.

King David gave thanks to God always and this made him so special to God. Even when he made mistakes, he asked for forgiveness in praise. You might still be praying for so many things He has not done for you, some of your wishes may not have been granted yet. Hold unto God, don’t complain and do not grumble. Don’t envy anyone and don’t be sad. Just keep believing and praising Him more. He’s a God of promise and will fulfil His promises concerning our lives. He wants our praise. Let us appreciate Him always. Brethren, cast your sorrow aside and learn to appreciate God.

I pray that the grace to be more appreciative shall be given to us in Jesus name. Amen!
