He that reapeth, receiveth wages – Part 1

Jn. 4:34-37 “Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.”
Every believer should know that we are in the harvest time and, therefore, he/she is expected to join to reap the souls, which our Master Jesus Christ has laboured for and purchased with His own blood. He purchased us and saved us, so that we shall be reapers in His vineyard. Although He owns us and we belong to Him, yet He has promised to pay our wages in the course of reaping. We must understand there are lots of reaping to be done for the harvest is plentiful, but the reapers (labourers) are few. And until we follow His counsel, we shall not receive wages, for only he that reapeth, receiveth wages. God is, therefore, offering us the opportunity to join in reaping, so that we can receive wages from Him. In every labour, there is a reward and the Almighty God, Who cannot lie, has assured that our labour shall be rewarded.
Beloved, the harvest for souls is ripe, the people are willing to hear, and have shown their readiness to be reaped and gathered for the Kingdom of God. Just as corn is ripe and ready for the reaper’s hand, so believers should lay hold upon the availed opportunity of plenty harvest, since wages have been assured.
Joel 3:13-14 “Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.”
The point is that the harvest is ripe and yet we have few hands to reap this harvest and multitude of believers are yet to decide what to do. So many of them are busy going to church for their personal needs only. Their hope in Christ is only for what they will gain on earth, such as the hope to get children, money, build houses, eat, and live a comfortable life. Many of them have joined the unbelievers in the rat race to enjoy the temporal world, to the detriment of many souls not yet saved.
Matt. 9:35-38 “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
I want you to understand that Jesus laboured, shed His blood and died for us on the cross of Calvary, in order that all souls all over the world shall be saved. He has paid the price and the Apostles also followed after Him and laboured. Many of them lost their lives in order to save the perishing souls. Many of these souls are ripe to harvest all over the world. And yet the labourers are few. The call to join the army of reapers in the vineyard of God is a call to partake in heavenly blessing. We should have compassion for these souls, just like our Master had, when He saw them, and having in mind that we shall be rewarded.
Heb. 6:10 “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”
