The Diocese of Lagos Mainland, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, recently commemorated its 20th anniversary and launched a new book, titled, ‘The Church Is Marching On In Lagos.

In his speech, the Bishop of Lagos Mainland Diocese, Rt. Revd.Akinpelu Johnson, said: “We have every reason to give thanks to God for what he has done.’

Expressing gratitude to God for the achievements recorded so far, he added that the diocese was committed to establishing a music school to train musicians and preserve the tradition of musical excellence associated with the Anglican Communion.

He noted: “We have spent so much money on the school building, but it is yet to get to where we want it to be. Music is very important to us in the Anglican Church. We need to train our musicians because the quality of worship is influenced by the quality of music we offer.

“It is not just about singing and entertainment. It is about training people, preserving our heritage and making sure that worship continues to be offered with excellence.”
