Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos and Bishop of Remo Diocese, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), The Most. Reverend Michael Olusina Fape has enjoined Christians to stop doctoring their ages for fear of retirement. He also urged them to desist from deceitful and unfaithful acts such as lying, and cheating, saying it is a fearful thing for anyone to fall out of the hands of God.
“Remember that whosoever names the name of the Lord must depart from iniquity; repent today and come to Jesus Christ and He will forgive you,” Fape said.
He also called on those who cheat on their wives/husbands, including those who rob God with their tithes to desist from doing so and repent.
He said: “Come out of your deceitful, unfruitful and unfaithful life because God knows that you are cheating on your wife. He knows that you are cheating on your husband. God also knows that you are not paying your tithes correctly.”
Speaking recently during the Sunday weekly mediation with theme, “The Watchful Eyes Of God” Part 2, Fape citing Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, in Acts 5: 3, 4, noted the duo lied against the Holy Spirit after they sold portion of their land and withheld part of the proceeds, adding that the aftermath effect of their action was instant death for both of them.
Archbishop Fape, who disclosed that God is always at work, said: “But Peter said, ‘Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and kept back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.’”
While calling on Christians to be prayerful, Fape stated that the Christian journey needs carefulness and sobriety.
