That Nigeria is still groping in darkness is a “conscious and unconscious” choice of Nigerians themselves, former President Olusegun Obasanjo said yesterday.

Obasanjo who spoke in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital explained that God did not create Nigeria to be a “rudderless” country or to be a failed nation.

To the former President, God created Nigeria to be one of the leading countries among the comity of nations.

The former President spoke when the leadership of the State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by its Chairman, Dr. Gbolade Osinowo paid him a visit at his private residence, located at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL).

The Party leadership used the occasion to present its Governorship candidate for the 2019 election, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka to the former President.

Out of the 11 governorship aspirants from Yewa who declared their intentions, only Isiaka, popularly known as GNI got his party’s nod to contest.
Obasanjo’s Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM) adopted ADC some months back.

Obasanjo stressed ” We have made so many mistakes in this country that should have stopped Nigeria from existing but that has not been our lot.”

According to him “Some (politicians) are going from PDP to APC and back to PDP, in the short run, we have no choice but in the long, we have choice because we cannot be running here and there and expect transformation. We have to get out of where we are and the only way to get out is through what you have in your hand, your party.”
