Archbishop James Haruna, who represented other bishops from the Bishops Episcopal Assembly (International Bishops Council), performed the consecration and investiture ceremony, which was witnessed by family members, friends and well-wishers.
Delivering his sermon, the Chief Consecrator, Archbishop Haruna, noted that ordination is an integral part of being a leader. He said: “Leaders are born not made. The bishopric title is an office, and to assume a leadership title, you must be blameless and able to weather the storms of life. Leaders have foresight, they visualise. Every prophet must be word-based – teach the word and act by the word of God.”
In his response, an elated Bishop Nwankwo said: “This is the greatest day in my life. I feel happy because I have been invested with the authority to help the less privileged. Now I can stand up in all boldness to support my country and serve the people and the nation as a whole. With my investiture as a Bishop, I have a strong backup from God, which has been approved by men. This shows that when God calls you, men should approve you. So, I pledge to be a voice to the less privileged and the nation. I will defend my country with all my heart.”
