Kumuyi urges christian wives to be submissive, husbands to honour them
Christian wives have been called upon to be submissive and faithful to their husbands, while the singles should get married to avoid loneliness.
Speaking at the combined service held last Sunday at Deeper Life Bible Church, Gbagada, Lagos, the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, said a woman saved by Christ has God’s grace and winsome character to change her unbelieving husband to know God. He described a virtuous wife as holy, meek and gentle, with a trusting disposition to keep the family going.
He said: “The winsome wife, who is beautiful inside will not drive her husband away. As a wife, you are strong because of God’s grace and your husband has not known that. So, the first thing you are to manifest is God’s grace and not to please self. The Bible says, ‘Let everyone please his neighbor…’ But now especially, let every wife please her husband. Because you are so submissive, it might seem as if you are stupid. But keep on showing love to your husband, and by so doing, your husband will change his life.”
He encouraged wives to be presentable to their husbands and not to dress in a worldly manner, adding that what matters is the woman’s inward character.
He said: “If there is any challenge in the family, Christian wives should trust in God, like Sarah did and God blessed her with the fruit of the womb. Wives should speak like angels as well as be virtuous. They should retain that good language and still call their husbands that good name like Sarah, who calls Abraham my ‘Lord.’
Kumuyi also advised husbands to complement their wives’ efforts, honour and defend them, so that their prayers are not hindered.
