Lauretta Obakpolor elected UNIBEN SUG president

Lauretta Obakpolor, a 400 level student of Pharmacy Department of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has emerged president of Students’ Union Government (SUG), UNIBEN Chapter.

Lauretta Obakpolor, a 400 level student of Pharmacy Department of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has emerged president of Students’ Union Government (SUG), UNIBEN Chapter.

The six aspirants and their votes are: Lauretta Obakpolor (School of Pharmacy) 2,283; Victor Arigbe (Faculty of Education) 1,437; Nelson Ehrauyi (Faculty of Engineering) 1,389; Efosa Iyekekpolor (Faculty of Education) 1,285; Godstime Oghogho (School of Medicine and Surgery) 397 and Leslie Oghama (Faculty of Social Sciences) 321.

Other officers elected alongside the president are: Sonia Obasuyi (Vice President); Jatto Ovie (Secretary General); John Aigbogun (Attorney General); Elliot Airhuoyuwa (Assistant Secretary General); Glory Odu (Director of Finance); Kelechi Ikotu (Director of Publicity); Eugene Chukwu (Director of Welfare); Michael Iroegbu (Director of Sports) and Precious Enokeran (Director of Socials).

Addressing the new executives during its inauguration, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, urged the new executives to maintain peace on campus as this was their main purpose.

In her speech, Obakpolor promised to carry all along, calling skeptics that are not comfortable with a female student emerging president to watch her take the school to greater heights.
