Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries in Ondo State, traditional rulers in Ilaje Local Government Area have endorsed Eyitayo Jegede for the November 26 poll.

Jegede is said to have got the endorsement of the monarchs in the South Senatorial District of the state.

The endorsement is, however, coming on the heels of the rumour that Jegede’s acceptability is majorly in the Central Senatorial District of the state, where he comes from.

According to Oba Omowole Jegede, one of the monarchs that endorsed him, Jegede is eminently qualified to succeed Governor Olusegun Mimiko based on his pedigree and track records, adding that no Ilaje indigene has come to seek for his blessing for the same position.

While Oba Odidiomo described Jegede as a very cerebral lawyer, who used his position as Attorney General‎ and Justice Commissioner to promote the administration of justice even among the traditional institutions.

He added that he would not hesitate to give him the necessary support as he aspires to higher office.

Meanwhile, the Olubo of Obe nla, Oba Kolawole Ikuesan, who disclosed that Jegede is the third governorship aspirant to seek his prayers and endorsement, also expressed his support for him.

In a reaction to the endorsement, Jegede said: “The truth is we need our best team for the upcoming race and not even the second best because only the best is right for the people of Ondo State and we are convinced we are in this race to win.”

Jegede pledged to look into their request for more development in the riverine areas and restated his goal to build a strong economy.
