One word from God – Part 2

Key Verse: Luke 7:7 “Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed,” (NKJV).

From the Bible days, great men of God found themselves in some sort of confusions, needing to hear from God. We hear of Elijah in 1Kings 19, when he demonstrated his passion for God at a time the entire nation of Israel got lost in idol worship; they were worshipping baal. Elijah connected with God and a day came when he proved His power and destroyed the idols. Must this nation worship baal or Yahweh? It was a public contest at Mount Carmel and God proved to them through his servant Elijahthat He was the only God and till today, He is the only God that every nation must worship.

At the end of the contest, Elijah defeated the prophets of baal and rather than celebrate the man of God, the king decided to eliminate him just like Elijah slayed all the false prophets of baal at Mount Carmel.

When Elijah got the threat of death, he ran for his life to Beersheba in the southern desert of Judah. We see that challenges come to everyone. Sometimes, it comes to you when you are on top of your success. Sometimes, it also comes to you when you are not even succeeding. It becomes much more confusing when you have done something great for the Lord and you still face some challenges and you ask whether God is there. God is there andhas always being there. Elijah was found hiding under a tree in the desert. A time came when Elijah prayed that God should take his life and that he was not better than other Prophets of God. You need to know the pedigree of the Prophet of God called Elijah to come to a point he prayed that God should take away his life and that he was not better than all those prophets who also had done exploits for God.

Elijah has lost hope and was suffering from depression. God asked Elijah to go and wait for Him at Mount Sinai and he went and hid in a particular cave. Elijah was waiting in the cave to hear from the Lord because he needed to hear just one word from the Lord. A drop of God’s word will settle the whole matter and bring clarity to the whole situation. While he was there, the Bible said a powerful wind came and shattered the whole mountain, but Elijah did not hear God amid the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake that shook everywhere and torn the mountain apart, yet Elijah did not hear God in the earthquake. After the earthquake, then came fire and there was fire blasting everywhere and yet the Lord was also not in the fire.

God may not speak to you in the great quaking and shaking of the mighty evangelist in town. Sometimes you need to be calm and listen for God to speak. The Bible said that Elijah became very quiet since he did not hear God amid the wind, fire and shaking of the earthquake. When Elijah became calm, there came a still voice of God that spoke to him and he heard God. God began to tell him what to do and gave him solutions to his problems. God is going to drop a word in your heart that will bring solutions to those problems disturbing you. I pray you will hear the still voice of God that will bring solution to your present predicament in the name of Jesus.
