Not happy with the rot going on in the house of God in Nigeria, the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, has called on members of his congregation, including pastors to report any sinful act in their local churches to the church authority.

He said the obligation of a true member of the body of Christ is not to cover evil but to expose those who indulge in sin, assuring them that their good works shall be rewarded like Modeccai in the Bible.

Kumuyi, who spoke last Sunday, during a combined service at Deeper Life Bible Church, Gbagada, Lagos, gave an example of how Esther, an orphan, was brought up by Mordecai, who took her as his own daughter and cared for her until she got married to King Ahasuerus.

Themed: “Every Esther Needs A Modeccai,” the cleric, who quoted Esther 2:7, 11, 20, noted that Esther faithfully obeyed Modeccai and there was no record of infidelity between the two.

He said: “There are people that will give an eye service to obedience, but not Esther. Esther’s obedience was pleasant, pleasing and pure. You understand that Esther was very fair and beautiful. She was good to look at, but she never posed as the temptation to Mordecai. Her obedience did not make her expose herself to Mordecai. She had pure and purifying obedience…and she took her obedience as a lifetime career. And those who will obey the Lord that way will be promoted as well. Modeccai never asked her to do anything improper.”

The General Superintendent lamented that the church is no longer reproving evil, which is why wickedness is rampant in the church today. He advised preachers to have mentors to guide and direct them whenever they go wrong. He also counseled parents to train their children in the way of righteousness, saying if Esther had chosen to be wayward, she wouldn’t have climbed the throne as Queen.
