There is a world of difference between “A GREAT PROPHET” and “THE LAST PROPHET”. It is important that we see things, particularly spiritual things as God sees them, if we are to avoid confusing ourselves and a lot of other people. Let us see some of these concepts in the eyes of God’s mind. The Bible in 1 Corinthians 15:45-47 refers to Jesus Christ as both the “SECOND MAN” (v47) as well as the “LAST ADAM’ (VS 45). “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven” (1 Cor. 15:45-47).

These two descriptive terms regarding Jesus carry a prophetic ring. The “SECOND MAN” means that other men are coming. There will be a third man, a fourth man, etc. Men who would make a lot of noise; they would make a lot of claims and have great impacts upon the political, economic and religious scenes, but are absolutely irrelevant to God as far as the greatest work, which God wants to do is concerned – the work of salvation and redemption. History confirms that a lot of such great men have come and gone. One of them is the Antichrist (1 John 2:22) with his antichrist religion. And many more may still come.

The “LAST ADAM” mean that, in spite of all the claims and noise of these men, ONLY JESUS is of any relevance to God in the work of salvation and creation of a new race, a new race of men, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness (Eph. 4:24)

In the same manner, there is a great gulf of difference between “a great prophet” and the “last prophet”. A great prophet would be anointed by God for a specific job but will be subject to like passions as all other prophets like Moses, Elijah, John the Baptist, etc (James 5:17). His words and actions are to be tried by the Word of God, using the same authority that God gave us in 1 John 4:1, just like the Berean Christians tried the spirit behind all that Bro. Paul, one of the greatest apostles that ever lived told them (Acts 17:10-11).

The Last Prophet would, in addition to being a great prophet, bring the church to perfection, since the church must be perfect before rapture (Eph. 5:27). His words are therefore FINAL and cannot be questioned.

This is the basis for the error, which this doctrine of the Last Prophet has foisted upon the undiscerning people of God. Those who fall victims to this type of demon teaching can be classified unto one of the following categories:

• Those who all their live have been looking forward more to the leadership of man than that of the Holy Spirit. They see the glory of God in the life of a man and they turn the truth of God into a lie and began to worship the creatures more than the creator (Romans 1:25).

• The simple, indolent children of God, who have not had a grasp of the counsel of God and can therefore, be deceived by the use of isolated scriptures outside the total counsel and the plan and purposes of God. Such people are unskillful in the word of righteousness and are babes (Heb. 5:13) and are easily taken into error with a few scriptures wrongly divided (2 Timothy 2:15).

• Those whose hearts have never been right with God. They have a form of godliness but have never really respected the Truth deep down in their hearts, they are out to seek carnal knowledge and call it revelation, ever learning, never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3:7).
