Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen.” Mark 11:22: “And Jesus answering saith unto them, have faith in God.”
We have been commanded to have faith in God. Having faith makes us believe in the name of the Son of God, Jesus Christ; and also, to obey His commandments. It is through the name of Jesus Christ that we can have life. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” You must have faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and that he came to save you, so that you do not experience eternal damnation.
Faith is a gift of the Holy Ghost. Holy Spirit teaches us to stay strong in Christ amid tribulations and adversity. With the help of the Holy Spirit, you don’t feel alone; you feel God is beside you. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me,” Psalm 23:4.
Though you walk through the valley of shame, pain, sickness, barrenness among others, you are not alone; God is right beside you. God is building you to be spiritually strong and great in Him. The scriptures have been designed to produce faith both in the old and the young. Our children must be the scriptures right from their early years; when they cannot make decisions on their own, so, they can be wise unto salvation by faith in Christ Jesus.
“But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptised, both men and women,” Acts 8:12. We must preach the gospel all over the world, so, people will believe Jesus Christ and repent from their evil ways. By teaching the word of God, we encourage people to have faith in the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. To avoid and escape from perdition, you must believe and accept Jesus Christ today, as tomorrow maybe too late. Many who do not know Jesus Christ are going through sufferings (spiritual manipulations, addictions, sicknesses, among others). They can’t call Jesus Christ to rescue them because they need to hear of Him to believe in Him, or know how powerful He is. Hebrews 11:6 says: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” If you do not believe he can do all things, you cannot have faith in Him. In the Christian warfare, faith is necessary. To conquer all physical and spiritual battles in life, holding unto faith is very important.
Putting away faith on the battlefield will lead to disaster. The devil’s goal is to make us end in hell. 1Timothy 6:12 says: “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”
The gospel is effectual in those who have faith. When one receives the word of God as just the word of men, there shall be no fruitfulness, but believing and accepting the word of God as the truth, effectually works miracles. Faith is necessary in prayer. “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive,” Matthew 21:22.
“And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said: “Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, ‘Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, who touched me?’ And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace,” Luke 8:43-48.
Through this story, we can see that receiving the recommendation of God, in the middle of tough and impossible situations, faith must be exercised. Faith overcomes every difficulty of life. Reach out to Jesus in faith today, and you will be saved.
