Text: Hebrews 12:1- 4
There is a price tag for every great thing. Jesus, our perfect example, has paid the most supreme price for the redemption of mankind. It was not a tea party for him to suffer the excruciating pains and neglect on the Cross of Calvary. He shed his blood and his life was eventually snuffed out of him. This is the price Jesus Christ paid to bring the whole world before his Father.

Every true greatness has a price tag. Those who desire to attain greatness and affluence in life must be ready to pay the noble price. Jesus is the threshold and foundation to true greatness. To ensure your greatness lasts eternity, there must be a nexus and unbroken relationship with Christ. There are no shortcuts to true greatness, as due process must be vigorously followed. Jesus did not sit back to wait for the salvation of man, he went to work by practically giving his life to save man. Believers on the other hand, must borrow a leaf from Jesus Christ. Faith must be backed up with action. No place must be given to laziness as we crave for the promises of God. We must engage our hands in lucrative and legitimate businesses that lead to greatness.

David had a prophesy in his life to become a king. He worked towards it; he employed six hundred men even when he had nothing. He did not bother what would befall him on the way, but he painstakingly followed through. David eventually ascended to the throne because he applied action to faith. Joseph also went through hard times before he became a prime minister in a strange land. He faced rejection among his brothers and was sold into slavery in Egypt. In Egypt, he encountered uncommon trials and temptations that landed him in prison. However, he endured all the trials, pains and frustrations until his dream came to fulfillment.

Greatness does not come by mere wishes. Greatness has a price tag. Anyone that wants to be great must work for it with all the determination and doggedness it deserves. Those who fold their hands in laziness will always remain poor in their entire life. We must go out to get the wealth of the kingdom and show the world that God is alive.

However, righteousness must be our guiding principles in the pursuit of greatness and wealth. It is our ineligible rights as children of God to possess the wealth of the kingdom. Daniel was great in his time; he also stood for righteousness. He refused to defile himself with the king’s rich food. His fame went round the land of Babylon because he stood for righteousness.

Obviously, anyone can be great; so far, he/she is able to pay the price. Greatness belongs to a very few who are rugged and determined to pay the just price. The price for greatness differs depending on the weight of the glory that accompanies it. Nevertheless, all greatness in life require some prices.

King Solomon goofed because he got his wealth on a platter of gold. He did not labour for it, so, he lost it. He wasted his greatness with worldly women.

Work for greatness and you will stand to testify the goodness of God in your life.
