The tongue – Part 6
Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself (Matt. 27:3-5).”
This was the testimony of Jesus Christ by Judas Iscariot that he has shed an innocent blood; and these happened that you and me might be saved to serve the Lord (Romans 12:1-2).
Why will Judas Iscariot hang himself even when the Bible recorded that he repented i.e. regretted his stupid act of betraying his Master Jesus Christ?
The answer is simple, he repented but was not converted. So many are like Judas Iscariot, who repented (sorry of their actions) but are not converted.
Hear the Psalmist saying: Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee (Psalm 51:122-13). The emphasis has been that sinners will be converted back to God and not just repentance.
Today, we hear and also witness suicides of people who ordinarily will not have done that if truly they are converted in their hearts, that even Pastors are committing suicide. The truth is, we must be true and genuine in all we do from within. Who are you?
For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them (Matthew 13:15).
Many today instead of building men have decided to build empires while the people are left behind.
The originality of God’s plan is to make disciples and not just members. That is why Jesus commissioned his disciples and as many who have received him as their Lord and personal Saviour should go into the world and make disciples of all nations.
The healing of the soul comes when the heart of a soul is converted. And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be Converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:3). Conversion of the soul is all that is needed to live a life that will please God.
What is conversion?
The offline English Dictionary defines conversation as the act of turning or changing from one state or condition to another, or state of being changed; transmutation; change. 2. The act of changing one’s views or course, as in passing from one side, party or form of religion to another; also the state of being so changed. 3. A spiritual and moral change attending a change of belief with conviction; a change of heart; a change from the service of the world to the service of God; a change of the ruling disposition of the soul, involving a transformation of the outward life. 4. A spiritual enlightenment causing a person to lead a new life.
The above definition makes us to understand that conversion is a total turnaround from the former to the latter. We are the product of ourselves by the words that we speak. Being converted makes one leave the old life that never pleases God, but self, to the one that pleases God Almighty. Don’t remain in the level of repentance but go to the fullness of total conversion where you never go back to your former lifestyle.
