Chairperson of Urja Foundation, Mrs. Rukhi Mitra said the event was to mark Christmas celebration with the children, as well as put smiles on their faces and make them feel at home.
She explained that engaging students in extra curricular activities would help them perform better academically and later in life.
She noted that it is important that children be helped and encouraged to fully develop their unique talents, so as to achieve their goals in life.
She said: “We celebrate with the students because this is the season of love. We also encourage them to work hard in terms of reading their books and we would continue to inculcate in them the reading culture during and after school.
“We celebrate three different festive periods in a year with students. These include Christmas, Independence Anniversary and Easter. They are aimed at improving the school children mentally, physically and spiritually.”
The school’s headmistress, Mrs. Fajemisin Folashade said: “The school management engages the students in different games, because they have different talents, and through the games, they can build their careers and become stars in future. We engage them in such games as football, table tennis, boxing, wrestling, and volleyball, among others.
“Parents should be careful in handling their children. They should fund their education and avoid child abuse. They should take good care of their children and help them develop into responsible adults.”
