Leading EdTech firm 10Alytics, in collaboration with Amdari, hosted its 6th Global Hackathon, drawing over 1,000 data scientists and analysts worldwide to combat child and infant mortality in Africa. The two-day event, held on November 30 and December 1, aimed to advance Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.

10Alytics CEO, Chukwuemeka Ikpa, revealed that 1,050 participants registered from Nigeria, the UK, Botswana, Pakistan, Ghana, the USA, and other nations. Participants were tasked with analyzing datasets on health-related metrics, such as vaccination rates, maternal mortality, and child mortality rates, to propose data-driven strategies for improving child health outcomes.

The hackathon’s competitive phase required participants to submit solutions within 10 hours. Submissions were reviewed, and the top 10 finalists competed for $2,000 in prizes.

During the competition’s second day, judges evaluated entries based on understanding, innovation, real-world applicability, and impact. The esteemed panel included Sunkanmi Agbomeji (EY, USA), Sherifat Akintunde-Shitu (Accenture, UK), Olutoyin Ogunmola (Stanbic IBTC, Nigeria), and Favour Ibude (Allianz, UK).

The competition saw Daniel Enadhuze emerge as the winner, clinching a cash prize of $700, while Chinonso Okonkwo and Uchendu Ebube came second and third, respectively, winning $500 and $300 in cash.
In addition, Oluwabamise Omolayo and Richard Gidi, who came 4th and 5th respectively, were awarded prestigious internship opportunities at Amdari, a leading industry player, to provide them with hands-on experience, mentorship and valuable industry insights to enhance their skills and kickstart their careers.

Daniel Enadhuze, the winner, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and shared his journey from a failed submission in the previous edition to victory in 2024.

Chukwuemeka Ikpa encouraged participants, especially those outside the top five, to continue honing their skills, emphasizing that the hackathon serves as a launchpad for impactful careers.
