Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) has rallied the information and communications sector (ICT) on professionalisation.

CPN made the call in Ogun State during induction ceremonies for graduating Computer Science and computing students at three tertiary institutions in July 2026.

The induction exercises were held at McPherson University, Seriki-Sotayo, Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on different dates in July.

The Graduate Induction Programme is a critical component of the Council’s efforts to nurture a new generation of ethical, competent, and professionally certified computing practitioners who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

At each institution, university management expressed appreciation to the Council for sustaining the Graduate Induction initiative, describing it as an invaluable bridge between academic learning and professional practice.

The institutions reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with CPN in producing graduates who possess not only academic excellence but also the ethical values, professional discipline, and practical competencies required in today’s digital economy.

The graduands received valuable insights into career development, professional certification pathways, responsible use of technology, and the expectations placed upon computing professionals in an increasingly interconnected world.

They were reminded that the privilege of joining the computing profession comes with a responsibility to deploy technology for national development, economic growth, social inclusion, and the protection of the public interest.

The successful conduct of the ceremonies at McPherson University, Babcock University, and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, underscores CPN’s unwavering commitment to promoting professionalism, strengthening computing education, and ensuring that every new entrant into the profession embraces excellence, competence, accountability, and ethical responsibility.
