
Ecommerce firm, Jumia is targeting six million unique visitors on its website for its #blackfriday coming up this month. The blackfriday holds from November 14 to 24.
Jumia Nigeria’s Head, Public Relations and Communications, Jumia Nigeria, Ojuola Asuquo, at a press conference in Lagos, explained that there were two million unique visitors from the one-day sales of #blackfriday last year. “However, since this year is 12 days, we are expecting the figure to be more and our estimate is six million.”
Speaking on sales, Chief Commercial Officer Jumia Nigeria, Thomas Simonet, said: “the economic recession will not impede sales as though the beginning of the year has been tough, there still lies an opportunity as some vendors are more eager to have more sales channels to earn more income. Also, some customers have delayed their sales with the expectation for fall in prices of commodities. However, this #blackfriday will serve as a channel for vendors to make more sales and money and shoppers to purchase commodities at low rates.”

According to, the Head Acquisition and Relationship Manager, Jumia Nigeria, Damola Ajayi, the concept of #blackfriday is based on customer and vendor experience. He urged shoppers to save-up as this year offers a lot more since, saying there is going to be a build-up till the final day for customers to cash in on missed days.
Country Manager, Jumia Nigeria, Juliet Anammah, said, #blackfriday is special as, it offers a lot of discount, offering the platform for the customer to purchase many goods at a lower rate and, the vendors can sell in large volume.
On the discount sales, she said negotiations have been made to ensure good stocks are got at the best prices .On operational management, she said: “we have entirely moved to full market place operations, which means that market place is roughly 80 per cent of our entire business so we have very good partnership and relations with the vendors and better assortment on our website.”
In his testimonial, Sanni Abiola of Fadesh Global Resources, said: “#blackfriday is like a rocket. Averagely, I sell 1-80 daily. However I had 700 orders the past #blackfriday.”
