Ekiti approves expansion of dedicated power line to ICT Hub
The Ekiti State Government under the leadership of Governor Kayode Fayemi, has approved the extension of a dedicated 33KV power line to Jibmore ICT Hub and Center of Excellence, Ikun Ekiti.
The Governor, ably represented by the Director-General, ICT, Dr. Hakeem Bakare, visited the site of the ICT Hub and Centre of Excellence situated at Ikun-Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area of the State for an on-the-spot assessment of the project.
Bakare, who was impressed by the level of infrastructure he met on ground, promised to support the ICT Hub and Centre of Excellence in every way possible to achieve its objectives.
JibMore ICT Hub and Centre of Excellence is the brainchild of Michael Olajide, an indigene of Ekiti. It is a not-for-profit Centre to cater to the needs of the youths and provide the platform for developing 21st century IT skills and entrepreneurship. The Hub also aims to drive growth in the number of digital jobs and digital entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
According to Olajide, investment in critical ICT infrastructure for skills acquisition will be the catalyst for development of turnkey solutions that will drive rapid growth for the Nigerian economy and the world at large. “We strongly believe that the Centre will help lift many Nigerians out of poverty.”
The ICT Hub is set to develop a vibrant digital ecosystem that supports innovation, entrepreneurship, and facilitates participants’ ability to use technology competently. Furthermore, beneficiaries of the Centre will be able to interpret and understand digital contents, while also assessing its credibility, creating, researching, and communicating with appropriate tools. The Centre provides a platform to support top-notch entrepreneurs, grow Innovation Driven Enterprises (IDEs), and create more Small Medium Innovation Learning Enterprises (SMILEs).
JibMore Centre is already collaborating with global IT leaders and open for more collaboration for curriculum, learning contents, and infrastructure development.
