10-year-old Nigerian girls win 2025 Technovation Global Summit

A pair of 10-year-old Nigerian girls, Akachukwu Blessed Nwachukwu, and Ifunanya Gabriella Okoye, have won the 2025 Technovation Global Summit.

Breaking the news in a statement on Wednesday, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) praised the two exceptionally talented girls from Rivers State for making Nigeria proud by winning the prestigious award.

“Their innovative AI-powered mobile app, “Stay Woke,” uses artificial intelligence to detect driver fatigue and distraction in real-time, issuing alerts to prevent accidents,” the statement read.

“This groundbreaking achievement showcases their remarkable tech skills and innovative thinking, inspiring countless young girls and women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).”

According to the NOA, Nwachukwu and Okoye, outshine over 33,000 participants from 117 countries, to win the award.

The agency added that they have not only put Nigeria on the global tech map but also demonstrated the immense potential of African innovation, paving the way for a brighter future for the continent’s youth.

It said their achievement serves as a powerful testament to the impact of nurturing young talent and promoting STEM education, inspiring a new generation of innovators and leaders.
