Nigeria officially joined the global youth technology landscape with the launch of Coolest Projects Nigeria on August 30, 2025, at Mountain Crest Schools, Owerri, Imo State. The event showcased 17 innovative projects by young Nigerian tech enthusiasts and marked the first time the internationally recognised Coolest Projects platform was licensed in the country, connecting Nigeria to a worldwide network of youth technology initiatives.
The initiative was spearheaded by Chidi Duru, co-founder of Codeant Technology Hub, who secured the license to introduce the global platform to Nigeria. Duru, a leading advocate for digital literacy, has trained over 5,000 children in coding, robotics, and artificial intelligence across schools and communities. Speaking on the event’s significance, he said:
“This is about building a future where Nigerian children don’t just consume technology but create it—and share it with the world.”
Education advocate Ifeanyi described the program as a movement nurturing a new generation of innovators poised to drive technological transformation across Africa. Meanwhile, Dr. Uzoma, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s edtech sector, hailed the initiative as a breakthrough for youth technology education. He noted:
“For years, there was a need to create opportunities for children to unlock their creativity, learn critical skills, and gain recognition on a global stage. This initiative fills that gap and becomes a game-changer for tech education in Nigeria.”
Participants presented technology-driven solutions addressing real-world challenges while gaining access to global recognition and networking opportunities. The 17 projects spanned multiple disciplines, showcasing the creativity and technical potential of Nigerian youth.
Through partnerships with international organizations, including the Raspberry Pi Foundation, Codeant Technology Hub has expanded access to coding education nationwide. Programs include coding boot camps, school tech clubs, and initiatives integrating technology with practical problem-solving.
Duru expressed hope that Coolest Projects Nigeria would become an annual platform for creativity, collaboration, and innovation, emphasising the event’s success as proof that vision and sustained effort can transform education into tangible opportunities.
The launch of Coolest Projects Nigeria coincides with growing national investments in the digital economy, highlighting the importance of programs that equip young people with technology skills and positioning Nigeria as an emerging contributor to the global youth tech ecosystem.
