Tension in Imo over alleged drowning of student, deaths

Palpable tension is brewing in Owerri, capital city of Imo State, over reports of the drowning to death on Wednesday of a final year student of Metallurgical Engineering at Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) at Otammiri River.. The student’s name was given as Ukachukwu Igboabusi.

According to the report, the deceased had gone to swim with his two friends before he met his death. The authorities of the institution were yet to authenticate the story as at press time.

Also, two lovers, one a student of the institution and his girl friend from another tertiary institution, were said to have lost their lives in the heat of an argument.

A source said while the girl stabbed the boy thinking that he was dead, she later drank poison. The young man was said to have later given up the ghost.
