NAPTIP, other security agents arrest notorious trans-border human trafficker
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP), has arrested a Kano based notorious human trafficker, Nurudeen Sani,
Sani was on the NAPTIP watchlist before his arrest.
The high profile arrest was executed by a joint team of the Department of State Services, (DSS), NAPTIP and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, (NSCDC), following a tip-off by concerned individuals in the neighbourhood.
“The well-planned operation also led to the rescue of 13 – Libya bound victims of human trafficking, made up of two boys and 11 girls just as the Agency has commenced manhunt for two other members of the trafficking ring whose names were given as Bose and Ismeal,” NAPTIP said in a statement.
The victims were said to have been recruited from the Southwestern region of the country and rescued at Basarawa Community along the Kano–Kastina Road by the security operatives while heading to Libya through the Republic of Niger.
The suspect is presently under interrogation by NAPTIP operatives while the victims are undergoing counselling as part of the Agency’s rehabilitation procedure.
