• Don expresses doubt about credibility of APC, PDP primaries
• I remain a candidate to beat, says gov aspirant, Bamishile

The immediate past Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Abiodun Oyebanji, has faulted the notion that he is the anointed candidate of the state governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

Oyebanji, who spoke after procuring his nomination and expression of interest forms at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, explained that Fayemi had created the level-playing field for aspirants to actualise their aspiration.

He said: “The governor of Ekiti State is the leader of the party in the state and all aspirants are members of APC in the state. The governor has no preferred candidate. He prefers everyone and the candidates will emerge at primary. I am not his anointed. Everybody running belongs to APC and he is our leader. I am sure that everyone of us enjoys his support.”

The former SSG identified poverty and insecurity as teething challenges he would address if he emerges victorious at the poll.He promised to consolidate on the gains recorded under the Governor Fayemi-led administration.

MEANWHILE, a professor of Agriculture in the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Omoniyi Adetiloye, has expressed doubt about the credibility of the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries slated for next month.

Adetiloye, who is also an APC chieftain in Ekiti State, said he based his pessimism on the twisted and flawed congresses conducted by the two parties.

Adetiloye, while addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, insisted that zoning of governorship tickets to the South by APC and PDP would promote unity and peace in Ekiti, saying the parties should not continue to govern Ekiti at the expense of the people of the South.

HOWEVER, a member of the House of Representatives and governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Olufemi Bamishile, has said he remains a candidate to beat in the 2023 poll.

The lawmaker, who represents Ekiti South Constituency II, said he would contest under the APC. In a statement in Abuja, Bamishile dismissed a report that he accompanied Oyebanji to the party’s secretariat in Abuja to obtain form for the forthcoming coming election.
