Mbah promises N30 billion GDP for Enugu via disruptive innovation

Peter Mbah
The Enugu State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Peter Mbah, says he has workable strategies that can raise the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the state from its current N4.4billion level to N30billion mark through, what he called, ‘disruptive innovations.’

He disclosed that the economy of Enugu should be rejigged and upgraded “into one of the top three states in Nigeria through disruptive innovation,” stressing that a lot depends on strategic planning and determination to succeed.

Mbah, who is also the Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of Pinnacle Oil and Gas Limited, explained how he raised his firm from a fringe player in the highly volatile and competitive oil and gas industry to a market leader.

Speaking when some former aspirants paid him a solidarity visit in his country home, Mbah disclosed that although he knew that the downstream oil and gas industry was saturated market with dominant players, he was not daunted.

He stated: “The market was already distributed. The big players had already captured their shares of the market. The question then was: how do you become a dominant player in an already saturated market?

“If you were dealing with an evolving market, it’s easier because everybody is struggling for a market size and companies are trying to capture different segments of the market.

“But that wasn’t where we were. We were in a space that companies had already taken their positions and had captured their various sizes. So, we knew that growing incrementally was not the option. We knew we needed to come up with a disruptive idea that would help us displace some of the dominant players and take that dominant position that we had envisioned.”

Mbah, therefore, noted that he would bring his wealth of experience into the governance of Enugu.
