Plateau flood victims laud federal government on intervention

The flood victims in Plateau State, who benefitted from the Federal Government’s aid, yesterday, expressed their appreciation to the government, saying that they are better off after their assistance.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Plateau State Chapter, yesterday, went round to evaluate how those who were assisted in August disastrous flood in Plateau State were faring.

They were given sewing machines, grinding machines, food items, including bags of rice, beans, sorghum, vegetable oil, salt, tomato paste sachets, seasonings, non-food items, mosquito nets, blankets, plastic buckets, foam mattresses, cooking pots, toilet soap and detergents.

Others items included cooking stove, agricultural inputs, maize, rice, herbicides, growth enhancers, liquid fertilizers and water pump machine..

Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, appreciated NEMA and the Federal Government for the intervention, noting that the items would go a long way towards alleviating the suffering of the beneficiaries.

The Executive Secretary of Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Sunday Abdu, said the agency would continue to give NEMA all the necessary support it needed to achieve its mandate.

The three people interviewed in JOs South local government of the State include Juliana Habu who was given a grinding machine, Nehemiah Wudamwa who was given seedlings and chemicals and Rwang Pam Moses who was given seedlings and chemicals.

SEMA thanked the Federal Government through NEMA for the wonderful intervention, adding that the items given had helped in alleviating the suffering of the beneficiaries.

They appealed to the Federal Government for more assistance, especially for those who didn’t benefit from the last intervention. In Jos North, where pumping machine, sewing machine and food items were distributed to the beneficiaries, they all expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for helping them.
