Ogun police arrest one suspected cult member recover locally made pistol

The Anti cultism unit of Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 30 years old Ademuyiwa Sodiq Akanni a member of one of the proscribed cult group in Ogun State.

The police spokesperson Omolola Odutola disclosed that the suspect was arrested in Adigbe area of the state after Credible information regarding the presence of suspected cultists in the area.

Odutola stated that after conducting a search on him, a locally made pistol along with a cartridge was found on him and was recovered as exhibit while some of the other suspected cultists managed to escape scene adding that the unit is actively working to track them down and ensure they face legal consequences.

She noted that during the interrogation the suspect Confessed to being a member of the proscribed Buccaneers confraternity, also known as “Alora and has provided valuable information that will aid in locating the cult’s other hideouts.

Odutola further reiterated the Ogun State Police’s dedication to eradicating cultism from the state.

“The arrested suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation in order to gather additional evidence and uncover any other potential connections to the cult group.”
