FOSSU lauds Gov Makinde on bursary approval
The Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU) has thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for approving the payment of their bursary.
The National President of FOSSU, Alarape Ibrahim, issued a statement on Saturday to thank Governor Makinde.
“As the National President of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU), I am delighted to express our heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde, for approving a N100,000 bursary for final year members of our association in higher institutions across the country,” Ibrahim said.
“This gesture represents a significant 900% increase from the initial bursary of N10,000, demonstrating the governor’s commitment to supporting the educational pursuits of Oyo State indigenes.”
To qualify for this bursary, Ibrahim said interested and qualified students are required to pay an annual due of N1,000 only, encouraging all eligible students to apply via this link: [insert link].
He also cleared the air regarding the N1,000 due, explaining that contrary to misconceptions, this due is not just a statutory fee but a crucial contribution towards the commencement of construction for the association’s headquarters on the plot of land generously provided by the government.
According to him, this headquarters will serve as a hub for the activities of FOSSU, fostering unity and progress among its members.
“Once again, we express our sincere gratitude to Governor Makinde for this kind gesture, which will undoubtedly alleviate the financial burdens of our final year students,” Ibrahim said.
“We look forward to a continued partnership with the Oyo State government in empowering our students.”
