Protesters Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, is witnessing a massive protest amidst tight security in the ongoing #EndBadGovernance walk.

The protesters, including shrine worshipers, youths, and women, displayed various placards and chanted songs like “We are hungry,” “We are hungry,” and “The systems are not working” as they marched through Isaac Boro Park, the abandoned monorail projects, and to Government House, Port Harcourt.

Latest checks show several civil society groups, human rights activists, artists, and musicians have now joined the protesters.

Heavy security was provided by the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Service (DSS).

Police vans and some Armoured Personnel Carriers were stationed in strategic locations, including Government House, Port Harcourt.

The busy state secretariat and judiciary complex are closed. Ikwerre Road and East-West Road are also witnessing low turnout of residents, with few vehicles on the road as residents trek to their destinations.
