Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army in the fight against banditry, particularly through the newly launched “Operation Fansan Yamma” in the North-West.

Governor Lawal made this statement during a visit from the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, at the Government House in Gusau.

A statement from the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, highlighted the CDS’s explanation that “Operation Fansan Yamma” consolidates all military operations in the North-West, sending a clear message that the army is prepared to eradicate banditry in the region.

Governor Lawal praised General Musa for his dedication to national security, expressing hope that peace would soon return to Zamfara.

“Your presence has greatly boosted our morale. My government is fully committed to cooperating with the Army and all security agencies in Zamfara. We believe that your efforts, combined with the local Community Protection Guards (CPG), will restore peace,” the Governor said.

He also emphasised that all CPG members were carefully vetted and selected to support the army in their local areas. Governor Lawal further extended his condolences to the families of military officers recently killed in the line of duty, vowing continued cooperation to combat banditry.

In response, General Musa expressed his gratitude to Governor Lawal for his support of the Armed Forces, noting the remarkable progress Zamfara had made under his leadership.

He highlighted the significant development in the state and praised the Governor for his contributions to improving the lives of the people.
