In Africa, many women face barriers when it comes to finding stable jobs and financial independence. But one organization is changing this reality. Techy Train Incubator (TTI), founded by Excellence Anurika Joshua, is empowering young African women by teaching them digital skills that can open doors to new career opportunities.
The story of TTI begins with Excellence Anurika Joshua’s own journey. In 2018, after leaving an abusive marriage with her young son, she found herself at a crossroads. Despite having a degree in Medical Laboratory Science, she struggled to make ends meet. It wasn’t her formal education that helped her rebuild her life—it was technology. Through digital tools and solutions, she was able to regain stability and, in turn, wanted to help other women do the same.
“I realized there were so many women like me, who were facing difficult situations but didn’t have the tools to change their lives,” said Excellence. “Techy Train Incubator was born out of my desire to help women break free from poverty and dependence.”
Techy Train Incubator offers digital training programs designed to equip women with the skills needed in today’s job market. From digital marketing to graphic design and web development, TTI provides training that allows women to earn recurring income, care for their families, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
The organization’s impact has been significant. Hundreds of women across Africa have graduated from TTI’s programs, with many finding new jobs, starting online businesses, or gaining freelance opportunities. For many, this has been a life-changing experience.
“Technology has the power to transform lives,” Excellence explained. “I want to make sure that as many women as possible have access to these opportunities.”
Despite the success, TTI faces challenges, including limited funding and unreliable internet connections in certain areas. However, Excellence remains determined to keep pushing forward. “There are obstacles, but the need is too great for us to stop,” she said.
Techy Train Incubator is not only changing the lives of individual women but is also contributing to a broader societal shift. By helping African women access digital jobs, TTI is addressing both gender inequality and poverty. Excellence believes that when women succeed, their families and communities benefit, and TTI is proving just that.
