Farmers laud approval of 75% input subsidy in Anambra, Enugu 

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will empower 25,500 youths and women in the rural areas of nine Niger Delta states in agriculture.

This is as farmers under the Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Programme Phase one (ATASP-1) in Adani-Omor Staple Crops Processing Zone, have hailed the Federal Government for the recent approval of 75 per cent subsidy on agro-inputs.

The empowerment, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, is, among other things, to guarantee financial sustainability of the beneficiaries, alleviate poverty, boost the economy, enhance food productivity and security as well as increase employment opportunities in the region

The National Project Coordinator, Dr Abiodun Sanni, disclosed this to newsmen during the Technical Working Session of the ministry on Group Savings, Loan and Record/Bookkeeping, in Owerri, at the weekend.

Sanni, represented by his Technical Assistant, Mr Bunmi Ogunleye, said the working session which falls under the ‘Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises Niger Delta Project.’
