Heads of security agencies in Imo State have solicited continued support and partnership of all stakeholders and citizens of the state through the provision of actionable intelligence for a hitch-free yuletide celebration in the state.

The security chiefs, who made the call during a joint show of force security exercise in Owerri, yesterday, assured Imo citizens of their safety and protection during the yuletide celebrations.

They disclosed that massive personnel have been deployed across the state to secure life and property, adding that the personnel are well equipped to guarantee adequate security during the festive period.

Speaking on behalf of the security chiefs, the State Police Commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma, noted that the Command, in synergy with other sister agencies, is battle-ready to forestall any act capable of truncating the existing peace in the state during the season.

Danjuma, who spoke through his deputy in charge of the Department of Operations, DCP Hamzat Abdul-Kadir, also commended the operatives of the Joint Security Taskforce for their resilience and diligence in carrying out their duties for the state.

The CP said: “I can tell you that we have several deployments in all the nooks and crannies of the state. Our focus is to ensure that Imo people enjoy Christmas and New Year festivities without any hitch.

“To be frank, we all share the concerns of Imo people about the insecurity, but it is glaring that Imo State now is safer than ever before. This is brought about by the synergy among security agencies in the state.

“We are doing all in partnership with stakeholders in the state including the traditional rulers, and community leaders so that we can share information at appropriate times and nip all the complaints in the bud without any problem.

“So we appeal to Imo citizens, let them come out, let them come home for those living outside the state, join their families to enjoy Christmas celebration and New Year all together. We are here for them and we will never fail them.”

Meanwhile, addressing the personnel earlier, the Commander in charge of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Bridg. Gen. Usman Lawal urged the operatives to exhibit professionalism and shun all forms of corrupt practices and misconduct while dealing with citizens, especially during the festive period.
