
The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, (NILDS) Prof Abubakar Suleiman has reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to strengthening legislative capacity in Nigeria and beyond.
Sulaiman who made the commitment in a New Year message, assured of the Institute’s commitment to prioritising capacity building for Nigerian lawmakers and those in the sub-region in the new year.
The DG noted that a key mandate of NILDS is to enhance the proficiency of legislators in fostering and consolidating democratic governance through effective deliberation and policymaking.
In a statement, Suleiman said: “We remain dedicated to providing legislators and legislative staff with structured opportunities for problem-solving studies and systematic training in various aspects of legislative institutions, processes, and procedures. Our goal is to continually enhance their capacity to sustain and advance democratic governance through informed decision-making and effective policy formulation.” He lauded Nigerians for their resilience, steadfast commitment to national unity, and unwavering support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The DG further urged citizens to remain united and determined, assuring them that the challenges confronting the nation can and will be overcome through collective effort and resolve.
