The national executive council of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has named a former Student Union Leader at the University of Portharcourt, Rivers State, South-South Nigeria, Mr. Christian Othuke Erue as its 2022 Ambassador – “Information Technology” Category.

NANS, renowned as the largest students union body on the continent of Africa, said Christian Erue’s advocacy, especially, in the areas of promoting Knowledge-based entrepreneurship, training and re-training on Smart Homes Automation, Auto Security, Website and Mobile Application and Digital Marketing in the students community in Nigeria is worthy of commendation.

Speaking during the 2022 edition of International Students Day held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, the National President of NANS, Comrade Sunday Asefon, said Erue, as a student leader in the prestigious University of Portharcourt (UNIPORT), was “impactful, engaging and encouraging.”

The NANS President added that “since our Leader, Christian left the UNIPORT in the year 2002, he has never left us in terms of mentorship, guidance and value-added innovations. He has mentored over 500 students to become business owners or gain employment in the IT sector through his transformational leadership and mentorship. Hence, this recognition from all of us in NANS as a way of appreciating his efforts, ground-breaking innovations and valuable advocacy.”.

In his remarks, Erue, who joined the event through zoom from Lagos, apologized for his inability to attend physically due to his cancelled flight. He thanked the organisation for the honour bestowed on him.

“This honour bestows on me greater responsibilities, expectations, more work. I feel touched for this honour you have given to me and with the NANS, we can go through the journey together. I promise to do more to add value to the lives of our students by training, re-training and encouraging them on how they can achieve prosperity and greatness through the IT sector.”
