FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC has appointed Yinka Sanni as the new Chair of the Board of Directors.
This is just as Moyo Ajekigbe, who chaired the Board from 2010 to 2025 has retired.
In a statement issued by the company’s Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Ore Famurewa, the firm extended gratitude to Ajekigbe for his exemplary leadership and significant contributions as chair of the Board of Directors.
He said Ajekigbe guided the company through various phases of growth and transformation, one of which was the commencement of dairy development.
He is a seasoned banker with over 32 years of experience whose tenure saw the implementation of innovative strategies that enhanced the company’s market position, according to Famurewa.
Sanni brings to his new position a wealth of experience spanning over 35 years in the financial services sector. He has held various leadership roles, including his most recent position as Group Executive at Standard Bank Group. He was the Chief Executive Officer of the Africa Region of the Standard Bank Group and Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC.
Famurewa said the expertise Sanni brings to the board covers retail and wholesale banking, asset management, and his invaluable strategic vision for the continued growth and innovation of the company.
The firm noted that Sanni holds a Bachelor of Agriculture degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master of Business Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University. He has also attended advanced leadership programs at Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.
“As I step down as chair, I want to thank everyone who has made my journey a successful one. Leading a company such as this was a great honour. I would like to thank the Board of Directors, Management Team, and Staff who made it easy to fulfil our mission to nourish Nigerians with quality dairy nutrition. I am confident that my successor will take the company to even greater heights,” Ajekigbe said.
Speaking, Sanni commended Ajekigbe for his leadership. He added that he is counting on the support of the Board of Directors, Management, Employees and Shareholders to work together to remain the leading dairy company in Nigeria. “Our path to continue the heritage of being a household name for dairy nutrition and nourishing Nigerians will go on.”
Commenting on the changes, the Managing Director of the company, Roger Adou, noted that Ajekigbe’s journey strengthened the company’s commitment to sustainability, innovation and community engagement, which have been pivotal in positioning the company as a leader in the dairy industry.
“As we welcome our new chair, Yinka Sanni, we are confident that his wealth of experience will sustain our agenda of profitable and sustainable growth while nourishing Nigerians with quality dairy nutrition.”
