Popular TV journalist, Rufai Oseni, has said claims that anyone raised him is a lie. Rufai said this on Tuesday in a post on his official X account in response to a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri.

Omokri had revealed that his mother and other family members helped Rufai escape the poverty affecting the latter’s family, refuting a claim that he and the journalist are cousins.

According to him, Oseni was a beneficiary of his family’s benevolence, just as he pointed out that the journalist turned around and bit the fingers that fed him.

Omokri said on Facebook: “Rufai Oseni of Arise TV is not related to me. There is no blood relationship. He is not my cousin as he claimed. He lied.

“He is just a charity case that my late mother and my other relatives helped due to the poverty experienced by his family. But he turned around to bite the finger of the hand that fed him.”

Responding, Rufai said he has become a subject of blackmail since the day he did a very thorough interview with the ‘known deceiver’ and asked him a key question on his wild journey of discovery and the answers were shabby.

“Since then he’s been concocting all sorts of lies but I will not descend into unproductive conversations. Everyone knows a deceitful person, even his family knows,” the journalist said.

He added that he will keep doing his job for the greater good of Nigeria but claims that anyone raised him is a lie.

“He’s never met me in person and my father raised me. I was never a charity case. I never went begging from anyone.
In fact we did much more and the facts are there,” Rufai said.

“I am too big to descend into unproductive conversations with unstable persons. I do my job well at all times.”
