CHAN 2025: Chelle picks 23 for Super Eagles B

Head Coach Eric Chelle has confirmed a 23-man squad for Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team ahead of the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled to take place across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from August 2 to 30.

The roster includes key players such as team captain Junior Harrison Nduka, defender Sikiru Alimi, and forward Godwin Obaje. Joining them are goalkeeper Ozoemena Ani, defenders Sodiq Ismaila and Stephen Mayo, midfielders Hadi Haruna and Alex Oyowah, and attackers Anas Yusuf and Ijoma Anthony.

“Our selection reflects the depth and readiness of the squad. We’ve had an intense camp, and the boys are mentally and physically prepared,” Chelle said.

The team is expected to depart for Zanzibar on Thursday night aboard Ethiopian Airlines, following weeks of preparation at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.

A second-phase training camp will run from July 25 to 31 in Zanzibar, ahead of the competition kickoff. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has scheduled two warm-up fixtures against Zanzibar’s senior national team—first on July 28 and then again on July 31.

Nigeria, CHAN bronze medallists in 2014 and silver winners in 2018, will compete from Group D alongside defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo. The team will open its campaign against Senegal at Amman Stadium in Zanzibar, followed by a clash with Sudan at the same venue before heading to Dar es Salaam for a final group tie against Congo.
