The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has instructed all candidates shortlisted for its ongoing recruitment exercise to validate their email addresses as part of preparations for the Computer-Based Test (CBT) phase. The directive was issued on Saturday through the service’s official X account.
According to the announcement, the NCS has shortlisted 286,697 candidates for the CBT, and communication with applicants will be conducted strictly through registered email addresses. “Henceforth, the Service will only communicate with shortlisted applicants strictly through their registered email addresses. No communication will be conducted through unofficial platforms or social media pages,” the statement read.
The service noted that some candidates had reported difficulties in receiving official emails. To resolve this, shortlisted applicants are required to log in to the Recruitment Portal at http://updates.customs.gov.ng using the National Identification Number (NIN) provided during registration. Applicants are expected to verify that their registered email addresses are correct and update them if necessary.
The NCS highlighted that only candidates with verified email addresses will receive official CBT instructions, including pre-test access links and login credentials. The date for the CBT will be communicated through the verified emails. Candidates who fail to update or confirm their email addresses may be unable to access critical information necessary for participation in the recruitment process.
The service also reiterated that the recruitment process does not require any payment. “The NCS does not demand or accept payment for recruitment. Applicants are strongly advised to disregard fraudulent messages circulating on social media,” the statement concluded.
This step comes as part of the service’s ongoing efforts to ensure transparent, efficient, and secure communication with applicants during the recruitment process.
