A women-led non-governmental organisation, Partners West Africa Nigeria (PWAN), yesterday, launched an advocacy aimed at deepening public understanding and strengthening the implementation of the Police Act 2020 across Nigeria.

The project, titled “Enhancing Public Trust and Gender-Responsive Policing in Nigeria Through the Effective Implementation of the Police Act,” will be implemented across the six geopolitical zones, covering Enugu, Borno, Adamawa, Kano, Plateau, Lagos, Ogun, Akwa Ibom, Niger and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), it seeks to bridge gaps in awareness and application of the Act within the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and among citizens, as part of broader efforts to reform policing and security governance.

Speaking at the launch of the project in Enugu, PWAN’s Executive Director, Kemi Okenyodo, explained that the organisation remains committed to promoting citizens’ participation, accountability.
