Afrobeat stars Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid and Ahmed Ololade popularly known as Asake has been unveiled as joint cover stars for the Rolling Stone Africa, February 2026 edition.

The feature, titled “Two Kings, One Turbulence,” comes following the duo’s record-breaking collaborative project, Real Vol. 1, which has dominated international charts since its January release.

Photographed in a high-concept shoot that blends Lagosian street aesthetics with avant-garde high fashion, the feature explores the creative synergy between Ayodeji “Wizkid” Balogun and Ahmed “Asake” Ololade.

The track arrived on streaming platforms, serving as the lead single from their EP, Real (Vol 1) with full feature Turbulence, Jogodo, Iskolodo, and Alaye.

On the song, both artistes lean into their strengths. Wizkid delivers smooth, understated vocals, while Asake brings his familiar energetic, street-inspired delivery. The contrast gives the track a sound that works for both relaxed listening and upbeat settings.

They sing in a mix of Yoruba and Pidgin, with lyrics centred on attraction, nightlife and confidence. The chorus is built for easy sing-alongs.

According to data from Spotify Nigeria, the lead single “Jogodo” broke the first-day streaming records for a collaborative release, garnering over 1.3 million streams within 24 hours of its debut.

In the exclusive interview, Wizkid frequently referred to as the “Architecture of Global Afrobeats” spoke on the intentionality behind his recent moves.

He said, “At this stage, it’s not about chasing numbers; it’s about infrastructure and legacy,”

“Working with Asake was natural. It’s about the feeling, the ‘Real’ energy we share.” He noted.

Asake, who has maintained an unprecedented run of hits since 2022, describing their partnership as “deeper than just making music.”

The feature highlights Asake’s fearless momentum, noting his ability to fuse Fuji-leaning vocals with Amapiano and electronic sounds without losing his cultural essence.

Beyond their joint projects, both artistes enjoyed an impressive individual run in their careers.

Wizkid continued to maintain his position as one of Africa’s most influential music exports.

Asake, on the other hand, remained a dominant force in the Nigerian music scene, with his amazing hits.

The cover story marks a significant cultural milestone, pairing the genre’s long-standing pioneer with its most explosive contemporary force.
