Tinubu to commission Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, others in Lagos tomorrow

President Bola Tinubu

Lagos State Government, yesterday, assured residents of easy movement around the state during the two-day visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on April 8 and 9, 2026, to commission some projects, saying that there is a directive that roads should not be haphazardly blocked for the President’s entry and exit from any road.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, stated this during a media briefing to announce activities for the President’s visit.

He said: “We are working closely with federal and state agencies to ensure that all arrangements for the President’s visit are seamless, secure, and befitting of the occasion. Security, logistics, and traffic management plans are being carefully coordinated to minimise disruptions to daily activities while ensuring the safety and comfort of all participants.

“We urge residents to cooperate with the authorities in adhering to traffic advisories and security guidelines that will be communicated in due course. Your understanding and support are essential to the success of this event.

“Lagos remains the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria and a hub of innovation, enterprise, and resilience.”

“The projects slated for commissioning during the President’s visit on April 8 and 9 reflect our administration’s deliberate and strategic investment in critical sectors, such as transportation, infrastructure development, education, and public sector development.

“President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate key infrastructure projects executed by the Babajide Sanwo-Olu/Obafemi Hamzat administration.

“These projects reflect our commitment to development and improved living standards. Among the projects slated for inauguration is the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, which is expected to ease traffic congestion across the metropolis.

“Also scheduled are the Lagos State Geographic Information Service Building, which is expected to transform our land records, among other functions, and a multi-agency complex named after the President. A newly completed Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle will also be inaugurated. There is also the mid-level agro-produce hub, Abijo, Ibeju-Lekki, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

“These projects have been carefully conceived and executed to address the growing needs of our population, ease mobility, stimulate economic activities, and enhance social welfare. They are a testament to our unwavering commitment to building a Greater Lagos—one that is inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive.”

Omotoso stated that the schools’ complex comprises 36 public schools – 31 secondary and five primary schools – situated in the densely populated Ajegunle in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Council, on an estimated 11.73 hectares of land.

The commissioner said the schools’ complex would now be referred to as all-inclusive where no child will be left behind, with the two newly constructed buildings for People Living with Disabilities (PLDs), which consist of vertical lift facilities to aid movement from the ground floor to the last floor, as well as a vocational school for students who desire to acquire skills in fashion designing, tailoring, craftsmanship, masonry, plumbing and other skills.

Meanwhile, a businessman, Femi Otedola, has commended Tinubu for his commitment to governance, noting that the President remained engaged in official matters even on Easter Sunday.

Otedola stated this in a post shared on his X handle yesterday, where he revealed that he spent Easter Sunday with the President and industrialist Aliko Dangote.

According to him, their discussions centred on the state of the economy and ways Nigerians could benefit from ongoing reforms.

He noted that despite the significance of Easter as a period of reflection and renewal, the President continued to attend to national issues, describing the effort as a sign of dedication that inspires confidence in the country’s future.
